Ripley Camp No. 4 was chartered in 1995 after the original Ripley Camp in the Rutland area closed in the late 1960's. The camp is named after Edward Hastings Ripley who bravely led the Ninth Vermont as the first Union commander to enter Richmond in April 1865. Members of the camp are very active in graves registration and other Civil War activities in Rutland County and the surrounding area.
